About María Pedroviejo
María Pedroviejo is a linguist, educator and communication specialist based in Madrid. Her work lies at the intersection of advanced Spanish grammar, discourse analysis and professional communication. With over two decades of experience, she has developed a rigorous yet accessible approach to language teaching, grounded in the conviction that Spanish is not an opaque system to be memorized, but a structured and intelligible framework that can be understood, analysed and ultimately mastered.
Alongside her academic and professional career, María Pedroviejo has developed an extensive trajectory as an actress in film, television and theatre. She has appeared in major productions such as El Cid (Amazon Prime), as well as in long-running Spanish series including Cuéntame cómo pasó, Águila Roja and Centro Médico. Her work has also been recognised with several awards for her performances in short films, including international distinctions in Los Angeles and California. Trained at institutions such as the John Strasberg Studios, her formation combines classical theatre, screen acting and voice work.
Her academic career includes teaching positions at institutions such as the Universidad de Alcalá, the University of Groningen and Universidad Camilo José Cela, where she has delivered courses in linguistics, syntax, academic writing and argumentation. Her teaching is characterised by a strong emphasis on intellectual clarity, structural precision and the development of high-level expressive competence. She has guided students in the production of complex written and oral discourse, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real communicative performance.
In parallel to her academic work, María has developed an extensive practice as a communication trainer, working with leading international organisations. In these contexts, she focuses on leadership communication, strategic discourse and the articulation of ideas under conditions of pressure, helping professionals refine not only what they say, but how they think and structure their message.
She is the founder of Spanish Mastery Institute and the author of a series of bilingual Spanish–English grammar monographs aimed at advanced learners worldwide. Her publications reflect a systematic approach to Spanish grammar, particularly in areas traditionally perceived as difficult, such as the subjunctive, which she reframes through clear structural principles.
Her areas of expertise include syntax, semantics, pragmatics and sociolinguistics.
